CHUTNEY
Indian Eagle Owl
Hatched 7 December 2013
The mighty Chutney is one of our youngsters. Hatched in Liverpool, he weighs 2 1/2 pounds and has a 5ft wingspan.
He has an amazing personality and likes to be with people. He's definitely a mummy's boy and whilst living indoors during his first few months he would sleep either on the pillow beside his mum or on top of the wardrobe.
He has a sock fetish, and on one occasion his mum looked on top of the wardrobe and found 7 socks, a small cuddly toy, some underwear, and a picture frame!!
He has a lovely attitude, and enjoys flying at falconry displays and weddings as well as his daily flying exercise in the fields.

HERBERT
Harris Hawk
Hatched 7 April 1997
Herbert is our Grand Old Man (rather like his owner).
In a long career he’s done it all. Norfolk and Suffolk shows, village fetes, experience days, training courses and is a first-rate hunting bird.
Always neat and sleek, he is prone to the occasional grumpy day (again like his owner) but always manages to pull out all the stops at showtime. He’s the only one of our birds who has made a kill during a falconry display, a pigeon at Hellesdon in Norwich. Everyone on the allotments was delighted.

ALGY
Male (we think) Little Owl
Hatched 2 May 2013
Algy is our little mad owl - his temperament is best described as mercurial. He can switch between being a charming, fluffy, cute little angel to screeching monster and back again in the space of a few moments.
At a flying weight of just 5oz, he’s the smallest of our birds but certainly has the largest personality.
We aren’t absolutely sure that he’s male and if he ever lays an egg, we’ll have to come up with a new name!

LOGAN
Male Lanner Falcon (lanneret)
Hatched 1 May 2004
Logan came to us as a runaway.
His original owner had been flying him in Derbyshire when he absconded, flying steadfastly east until he ran out of land on the Norfolk coast. He tried to steal some meat prepared for a barbecue and was trapped in a conservatory. His owner couldn't be bothered to come and get him so a deal was struck and Julie gave him a home.
The two of them have been together for many years now and he's turned out to be a first rate falconry display bird.

MERLIN
Harris Hawk
Hatched 30 March 2011
Merlin is the younger of our two Harrises. He and Herbert came from the same breeder near King’s Lynn although, with sixteen years between them, they have different parents. He’s as laid back as his older cousin and just as dapper.
Herbert tends to regard the young upstart with lofty disdain.

ECHO
Female Barn Owl
Hatched 21 May 2012
Echo is a very quiet and cuddly girl who has a liking for glace cherries (don't ask!!)
She is part British and part African, which means she is an exceptionally pretty barn owl due to her colours being slightly darker than than the pure British.
She made a remarkable recovery from a serious accident and proved that although quiet, she has a strong will.
She enjoys sitting on her mum's shoulder and watching wildlife programmes on the television!

BODKIN
Female Kestrel
Hatched 23 May 2014
Bodkin is our new baby and although the smallest of our falcons, she's the one with the most to say! In fact she can chat for Britain!
Her name comes from the medieval arrow point used by English and Welsh archers in the 14th century.
When we got her we weren't entirely sure that she was female but following a quick blood test we now know that she's a girl - and she's got a certificate to prove it!

CRECY
Male Peregrine Falcon (tiercel)
Hatched 8 May 2009
Crecy is named after the battle fought on 26 August 1346 between Edward III of England and Philip VI of France (the English won!).
When he was ten months old he had a severe accident and was unable to fly for several months. He made a full recovery and is now the fastest bird on the team.
He has the sweetest of temperaments but has always been a bit of a Daddy's boy. He's also incredibly nosey!

LUNA
Barn Owl
Hatched 7 July 2002
Luna arrived at the age of 13 days It was a boiling hot day and the car’s air conditioning had to run at full blast with the windows closed. At that age, baby barn owls aren’t exactly cute and this one stank – just ask Clive for more details!
He began his flying career in early spring 2003 and has been entertaining crowds ever since. Usually one of the most reliable members of any falconry display team, he has, however, had his moments. On one notable occasion when he was still quite young he went missing altogether. Luckily, his upbringing had taught him that humans feed him and when the hunger pangs got the better of him he found the open back door of a nearby house, flew in, sat on the kitchen table and loudly demanded a mouse – “please”. The owner of the kitchen table found his unique number on the metal ring around his leg and was able to reunite him with Julie (and a mouse).

TEMERAIRE
Gyr/Saker Hybrid Falcon
Hatched 24 April 2008
A big and very powerful falcon, Temeraire is 12.5% Gyr falcon and 87.5% Saker falcon.
Her favourite tactic is to climb to a great height, circle round and then attack from a completely unexpected direction.
She came from a breeder in Chipping Norton and so was Jeremy Clarkson's neighbour for a few weeks
